Rolfing® Structural Integration and Adjunct Therapies
If you are in pain, ill, or just stiff with inhibited motion, Rolfing ® may be for you. The intent of the work is to create the opportunity to relieve pain and stiffness, and to offer a new way of being in the world. That means you can establish a new level of health on every level of your being.
Rolfing ® is a hands-on manipulation developed by Ida P. Rolf 50 years ago. It works on the connective tissue (fascia) to release, realign and balance the whole body. Rolfing ® enhances your posture and freedom of movement. It can resolve pain and discomfort from many different causes, including back pain, repetitive motion injury, trauma, illness and aging. Rolfing is also an excellent foundation for and complement to yoga, Pilates and other personal wellness practices.
Pam's work is a non-invasive series of direct connective tissue manipulation, movement and somatic education designed to release patterns of accumulated stress and chronic or acute pain. The Rolfing ® sessions serve to unwind, reorganize and balance your body into an integrated whole. This allows for the lasting restoration of ease, fluidity and efficiency, and generally improves your energy as well as tour overall level of health.
Within the parameters of the series, any of the following modalities may be utilized as needed to augment the process:
- Craniosacral Therapy is a subtle yet dramatic treatment that involves gentle manipulation to release restrictions and restore the inherent flexibility to the cranial boned, the cerebrospinal flied and other body fluids. And to the body's total connective tissue system.
- Energy and Shamanic Healing is based on many effective ancient practices that assist in a new depth of integration for the whole being. They create the opportunity for a delicious alignment with Spirit, and the unfolding of the freedom of body and mind that is our birthright.
- Visceral (Organ) Manipulation is an important adjunct to Rolfing ® , as the organs have a strong interrelationship in the connective tissue of the entire body. Many clients, after having completed the basic series, opt for visceral work to further release the intrinsic structures of the body. This work also increases the general level of health of all the organs of the body. The overall result is a noticeably higher level of health and vitality and a deeper feeling of internal awareness and ease.
- Somatic Education is generally incorporated within the sessions, as it is an integral part of the Rolfing ® process. The goal is to release habitual and often dysfunctional movement patterns and to establish new, more efficient and comfortable ones. This is excellent for such problems as TMJ dysfunction, carpal tunnel syndrome, balance and postural problems and overuse syndromes and injuries to name a few.
- Injury Rehabilitation and acute therapy are tremendously helpful in speeding recovery from injury, surgery or illness. Using any of the above techniques, we can address new, acute injury or aggravated chronic conditions.
